many people said this, yuu must be fortunate to be in Singapore because we are free from natural disasters, many times it will be our neighbour who suffered...

but we are not fully protected.

remember on 31st oct 2000, 2 days after my birthday, when i was still in a joyous mood after my streaming exam a tradegy happened, crashing of SQ 006. tragic crash of SQ flight 006 at Taipei airport was caused by the captain’s attempting to takeoff on a runway that was closed, dark and under construction.



then The Nicoll Highway collapse was a construction accident that occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Singapore Time (UTC+8:00) on 20 April 2004 in Singapore when a tunnel being constructed for use by MRT trains collapsed. The tunnel was part of the construction of the underground Circle MRT Line, near the Nicoll Highway MRT Station. The supporting structure for the deep excavation work failed, resulting in a 30-metre (100 foot) deep cave-in that spread across six lanes of Nicoll Highway. The collapse killed four people and injured three.



then It was in the news where 5 of our boys drowned when their dragon boat capsized.

There were representing Singapore in the dragon boat race held in Cambodia's Tongle Sap on 26th NOV 2007.

The bodies of Mr Chee Wei Cheng, 20, Mr Jeremy Goh Tze Xiong, 24, Mr Stephen Loh Soon Ann, 31, Mr Poh Boon San, 27, and Mr Reuben Kee En Rui, 23 were recovered on Sunday and brought home in a military aircraft on Monday night.





therefore we cannot say we are fully protected from disasters, nobody can anticipate anything. therefore all the more we cannot tell the children that.
